Which Baking Book ?

Good Monday morning to you all. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
We spent the weekend running errands and fussing with the chicken yard in preparation for the change in weather, and that's about it. . . This morning I was thinking that I needed to do a new post for The Kitchen Calls and what should it be? Well I came up with this idea.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner and it's rainy and beachy stormy out so I have decided that we need to bake...what book should we bake with? How about if we all have a hand in deciding which book will be awarded to the next. . . . . giveaway winner. Yes I know we just had one but I want a baking one before the Holidays.

This will start today and all you need to do is leave a comment telling us what your favorite Thanksgiving baked good is and what cookbook you vote for...that's it.

This will probably be the last giveaway until after the Holidays as we will all be so busy.

Good luck to you all.

  1. I think I would go with the America's Test Kitchen Baking book.

The recipe I look forward to making so much when it comes to the Thanksgiving holiday is the Pumpkin Crisp that I found while searching the internet shortly after I was married. It is so good that both my husband's family and my family request this instead of pumpkin pie and it is always the first dessert to be gone.

  3. I LOVE that baking illustrated cover. It's very 1950's looking.

We don't have Thanksgiving here so I don't have a favourite recipe for that. Does that mean I can't play?

  4. One of my favorites for Thanksgiving is the Pumpkin Spice Balls I made for our family one year. I think America's Test Kitchen book looks interesting, and is the one I would pick.

  7. Kami - Thank you for your vote and since you are so lucky winning two other times and since you are my daughter and I know that you already have that book, that must mean that you are taking yourself out of this giveaway...thank you dear daughter.

  9. The answer has to be pie, for I do love pie. Pumpkin Pie made from the pumpkins in our garden and an Apple pie for good measure. The Engineer bakes the best rolls from his Grammy's recipe, so good! I'm getting hungry!

I have the Baking Illustrated so...I'm going to say the last one because of the nice picture on the front.

  13. I love the Baking Illustrated cover. Having an illustrator background,is not the best to pick a baking book, but I love to cook, especially holiday cooking and baking.

  14. My favorite Thanksgiving baked good are old-fashioned rolls from the Good Housekeeping cookbook. My sister and I loved the rolls our grandfather made for holidays when we were kids, so we made it our goal in life to figure out some decent approximation of his recipe to make ourselves so we could have them whenever we wanted them. We eventually settled on the GH recipe and made them for our family Thanksgivings for several years before we became adults and started leading separate lives. I still make them every Thanksgiving! Yum...

I would choose the America's Test Kitchen cookbook out of the 4 illustrated above.
